Too Much of A Good Thing

I think we have all heard that saying. I feel like it only applies to donuts. Like yes, you can have too many donuts. But Since I was sick last week, and I’m finally able to get back in to it, I have been doing too much. I play on 3 different sand volleyball teams now, 3 days in a row. I never even thought anything of it until my shoulder was hurting this morning while trying to do push ups. And you know us fitness junkies have to get our fix, so I powered through. But all the volume is really starting to take a toll on me. Now is the dilemma of slowing down or risking a bad injury. This is where I usually choose the wrong decision.

I think I will just incorporate some rotator cuff exercises everyday to help strengthen my shoulder. This will allow me to continue playing (or so I keep telling myself). I’ll stop pushups until it feels better. Problem solved, right?

Nonetheless, I had a great workout this morning, before I hit the sand tonight. I basically did a treadmill circuit. One minute run on the treadmill, then a set number of reps for an exercise. Four sets of each exercise and treadmill run, 45 minutes later, I’m dripping in sweat and ready to conquer the rest of the day. Does that ever happen to you? You beast through a workout and then feel like the rest of your day you’re unstoppable. Sometimes I do. This is one of those days. I feel like batman.
