More Optimum Pro—And in Bikini

Rookie Barbara Bolotte, who hails from New Orleans, trained with Louisiana’s most famous figure competitor, two-time Figure International champ Mary Lado for this competition and with excellent results: her first, but I suspect not her last, pro win in only her second show on this level. The ‘10 Nationals class winner brings a delightful freshness to the bikini stage, and I look forward to seeing strut her stuff live at the Bikini Olympia in September.

Nineteen fine-looking stride ‘n’ snappers came to Shreveport for this competition. Second went to another rookie, Jenny Drennan, and by ”rookie” I mean someone in her first year of pro competition. The ‘10 Team Universe very tall class winner, she appeared in the photos to be another breadth of fresh air, and this was a definite improvement over her 10th-place showing in St. Louis in March.

The Optimum Pro Bikini Classic was the rare competition that qualified three newcomers for the Olympia. Vanessa Prebyl has competed several times since getting her card at the ‘10 Junior USA, but taking third here was her best showing to date.

Fourth went to Christie Marquez, while Abbie Burrows, who was third at the MuscleContest in March and who I thought might win this one, landed in the fifth spot.
