Stacks of Stress

Get rid of the mess

According to the January ’10 Prevention, kitchens often become dumping grounds for clutter, and that can lead to major stress.

According to Peter Walsh, author of Does This Clutter Make My Butt Look Fat?, a messy kitchen makes it harder to eat right—you’re more apt to order a pizza than try to unearth enough counter space to make a healthful meal.

So clutter can make you fatter—and more stressed. Messiness leads to higher cortisol levels, which also leads to carb binges, not to mention that it melts away muscle. So clean up to lean down.
