Hunger: Pre-Meal De-Appetizer
You’re sitting down to eat, and you’re ravenous. You can already tell that you’re going to overshoot your calorie limit; just thinking about that first bite makes your salivary glands kick into overdrive. How do you minimize the fat-storing damage? Eat before you eat, according to the April ’12 Health.
Fill up on a low-calorie soup or salad before hitting the main course. Low-cal means about 150 calories, so go with broth-heavy soups, not the cream kind.
And as for the salad, choose a small amount of vinaigrette dressing or even lemon juice. And no freaking croutons! They are simply dried morsels of high-glycemic bread. Pick them out and toss them.
