According to a study published in the Journal of Neurology, Neurosurgery & Psychiatry that tracked more than 3,000 men, vitamin D can improve brain function. That was especially true in middle-aged men who notably improved in attention and faster processing of information. Another study found that vitamin D can reduce breathing problems in asthmatics. Sunshine is the best source of vitamin D; just don’t overdo it and get burned. In the winter take vitamin D supplements, about 2,000 I.U. per day, to boost your immune system when it’s not possible to get out in the sunshine.
