Sac Pro: Freeman’s Show to Lose

Well, it looks like the Sacramento Pro, set this Saturday at the Crest Theater, is Toney Freeman’s show to lose. The X-Man, coming off a disappointing eighth place finish at the Mr. Olympia six weeks ago is, at least on paper, the overwhelming favorite in the John Tuman-Ted Williamson production, which is bringing the men’s pro competition to the event for the first time (see my video interview with Tuman and Williamson on this site).

The 43-year-old from Atlanta, Georgia, who insisted he was carrying 290 pounds on his 6’2” frame at the Olympia, will probably get his main competition from the likes of Darrem Charles, Ed Nunn, and Craig Richardson. Mark Dugdale, who looked good in finishing fourth in the Olympia 202 and Under, is a top five candidate, as is Poland’s Robert Piotrkowicz.

The line-up, as of November 1:

1. Aktolga, Serdar (Turkey)
2. Almohsinawi, Khalid (Netherland)
3. Atoyan, Grigori (USA)
4. Barrios, Jorge (Spain)
5. Becht, Markus (Germany)
6. Castagnet, Eric (France)
7. Charles, Darrem (USA)
8. Cherry, AD (USA)
9. Churchill, Rob (Canada)
10. Dim, Kris (USA)
11. Dugdale, Mark (USA)
12. Faour, Aiman (Lebanon)
13. Freeman, Toney (USA)
14. Jablonicky, Pavol (Czech Republic)
15. Karamanlakis, Emmanoul (Greece)
16. Kjellstrom, Martin (Sweden)
17. Nunn, Ed (USA)
18. Piotrkowicz, Robert (Poland)
19. Richardson, Craig (USA)
20. Senior, Heinz (Venezuela)
