More shocking news from the industry; Peter McGough has resigned as Editor in Chief and Group Editorial Director at Muscle & Fitness, Flex and Muscle & Fitness Hers magazines.

Was the move forced upon McGough, who moved from England to begin working for Flex back in 1991 or 1992, or was the resignation due to personal reasons? I don’t have the answers to that at this point, but am sure we’ll get more of the story by next week.

Peter and I had our ups and downs throughout the years, but got along well in recent times. When I shared a drink with Peter and his lady, Ann (a wonderful gal, by the way) in the bar at the Sheraton Hotel in Pasadena prior to the 2006 IRON MAN Pro, Peter made me feel good when he said “Lonnie, I know we had our differences in the 90s, but I realized a while back we both want the same thing, we just go about it in different ways.” Couldn’t have said it better myself, Peter.

No matter how or why the change occurred, I want to wish McGough the best of luck in whatever future endeavors hold. Ron Avidan told me earlier today Peter would be given another role with the organization; that would be a smart move; he’s a very talented fella who loves bodybuilding.

Below is an interview I conducted with McGough at the Reg Park Memorial event last December in Santa Monica. As you will see, Peter’s love for the game rings loud and clear.
