Grow With the Flow

ironmanmagazine.comWe can’t eat air, but the concept of breathing has become just as vital during training as are food and water. Considering that we breathe in and out about 20,000 times a day, maybe we should take a closer look.

According to breathing expert Alison McConnell from Breath Strong, Perform Better, “Executing proper breathing during weightlifting enhances core stability, which will reduce injury risk, improve maximal lift performance and enable the body to maintain higher intensities for a longer duration, and promote gains in caloric expenditure.”

Concentrated breathing helps regulate the flow of energy-giving oxygen and carbon dioxide and ensures that your circulation is carrying optimum amounts of nutrients around the body, which is another very valuable component in all types of training. So remember to breathe!
