Studies show that a small amount of alcohol—one glass of wine for women and two for men—can improve heart health in many cases. The problem with alcohol is that it disrupts sleep patterns, which can derail growth hormone output during the night. GH is important for your immune system as well as for adding muscle and burning bodyfat. The solution is to have your drink or two earlier—with dinner at around 6 p.m. if your bedtime is around 10 p.m.
