Is there too much high-fiving and butt slapping in pro sports? Maybe not. According to the May ’12 Reader’s Digest, all that full-contact jubilation may actually win games.
Researchers at the University of California, Berkeley, checked out 30 NBA teams in 2008 and ’09, tracking high fives, etc. They found that “a physical show of team spirit boosts cooperation, relieves anxiety and can improve a team’s performance in a game.”
So will chest-bumping the gorgeous gal in the gym after her set of machine flyes make her workouts better? Hmm, have this article handy if you try that. No doubt your workout will improve—unless you get whacked. Hey, no pain, no gain.
