Don’t Get Stoned

7212-mind3According to those who have had to pass them, kidney stones are an incredibly painful affliction.

Doctors suggest drinking plenty of water to keep your kidneys flushed, and new research suggests ditching plastic bowls and cups—at least for hot stuff.

From the April ’13 Bottom Line Health: “When volunteers ate hot soup from plastic bowls made with melamine, levels of the chemical in their urine were up 6.4 times higher than people who ate soup from ceramic bowls.”

The chemicals released are linked to the formation of kidney stones.
