Hydroxycitric acid is an extract from the Garcinia cambogia fruit, and it’s been touted as a fat-loss aid. Researchers tested it by giving 29 overweight people either 2,800 milligrams of HCA or a placebo before each meal. The subjects were on 2,000-calorie-a-day diets. After eight weeks the subjects taking HCA had lost three times more weight than those not getting it. Researchers believe HCA may block fat absorption and also control appetite.
