7207-mind5• According to the December ’12 Prevention, a study by the American Chemical Society found that eating 1.4 ounces of dark chocolate daily lowered stress hormones. Eat chocolate, preserve muscle tissue. Excellent.

Do you drink bottled water? If you do, you’re being ripped off. According to the December ’12 Reader’s Digest, a $2 bottle of water costs only about 5 cents to produce.

• According to the November ’12 Health, taking an assertive physical stance can help you say no. That includes head up, eye contact, eyes forward, arms loose at your sides, chest out and a smile. “No, you cannot work in with me; you smell.” Don’t forget to smile.

• Vitamin D is showing increasing promise when it comes to healing what ails us, and lots of folks are supplementing it. So, why are more than 70 percent of us still D-deficient. One reason may be absorbability. An article in the July ’12 Bottom Line Health explained that a form of vitamin A, retinoic acid, a.k.a. retinol, has been found to block D absorption. So, even if you’re taking a D supplement, you should still try to get out in the sun for 10 to 15 minutes a day so your body can manufacture D naturally. That’s the best source.
