Monica?s ?Secret?

Sometimes timing is everything. I might have been able to give a much more unbiased review of Monica Brant’s new video, ‘Secret of Beauty,’ had I not spent a whole afternoon with her before watching the video. Needless to say, my opinion is now a bit skewed (and yes, that was my feeble attempt to brag about spending an afternoon with one of the top fitness women in the world).

Don’t let the name of the video mislead you, as it did me. It’s not a how-to guide. It doesn’t explain the best way to apply makeup, how to make your hairstyle complement your face or tips on how to walk around with books on your head to maintain good posture. I’d guess that the title is more a way to describe the mystique of what makes Brant a fitness champion.

‘Secret of Beauty’ displays much of what Monica did to prepare for her Fitness Olympia win in 1998. Footage includes preparation for photo shoots, the actual photo shoots, training, gymnastics and routine practice, as well as some of Monica’s nutrition and supplementation plan.

Her physique in the video is beyond impressive. It’s mostly footage taken shortly after her Fitness O win, so she’s obviously in phenomenal condition, but you can’t deny the role her great genetics plays in the way she looks. In contest, or close-to contest shape, she appears to be leaner than I, or most of our readers, have ever been. The training and gymnastics footage really helps to show why she’s a champion. Monica comes across as being extremely well-disciplined and highly motivated. That was also apparent at the photo shoot she and I did together.

It shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone that Monica Brant has become one of the top fitness athletes. She’s driven to succeed, she seems to be a genuinely nice person, and she’s not too hard on the eyes. Sounds like the secret of beauty to me.
