Lee Priest Enters 2004 IRONMAN Pro
Lee Priest, three-time Mr. Olympia finalist and twice a second place finisher at the IRONMAN Pro, has entered the 2004 IRONMAN, set for February 21, at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium.
“The IRONMAN is a great contest, with the best lighting in the sport’if I’m off again, like I was at the ‘Olympia, I’ll still look good in the pictures,” said the 31-year-old Priest, showing his sharp sense of humor is never off.
“Also, the show is close to home (Priest lives in Lancaster, CA, an hour and a half outside Pasadena), and I’m doing a seminar at the Fit Expo, probably on arm training, after the pre-judging.”
Priest also admitted redemption may be playing a little bit of a role in his decision. “I wasn’t into the ‘Olympia at all this past year (Priest finished 15th), both mentally and physically. But, I want to show I’m still a top contender’the last time people wrote me off, when I got sick in 2001, I came back the next year to finish second at the IRONMAN, fourth at the Arnold and won the San Francisco.
“But, I’m not making any predictions for the IRONMAN. There are several really good bodybuilders in the show, like Ahmad Haidar, Quincy Taylor, Johnnie Jackson, Toney Freeman and Craig Titus, and all of us can be on or off, like I was at the ‘Olympia.
“I’m 214 pounds today (December 24) and plan to come in around 202-204. My biggest decision now is deciding what hairdo to show up with. I was thinking about the Elvis look, but the last time I did that, dying my hair black, I finished ninth at the Night of Champions. I don’t think they knew who I was!”
