According to reliable sources, bodybuilding's true Ironman, Milos Sarcev, suffered a severe leg injury in January but, despite the impairment that resulted in surgery, still hopes to compete in his 71st pro show at the Night of Champions on May 18.

Witnesses at Gold's Gym, Fullerton, the facility owned by Sarcev and wife Milimar, say Sarcev was doing hack squats with 900 pounds in early January when he tore the tendon in his right leg. A week later he underwent surgery to repair his right patella tendon and rectus femoris and vastus intermedius. According to a friend of Sarcev's, the surgeon had to drill two holes in the knee to brace it.

Sarcev has been told he needs to take six months off; amazingly, the 38-year-old, who planned to do the Southwest USA, the Toronto Pro International and the NOC in May, is reportedly still planning to try and get onstage at the Beacon Theater in New York for his 10th appearance at the NOC.

A year ago David Dearth suffered a similar injury as Sarcev's and kept true to his word by competing at the Toronto Pro. So Sarcev may be down, but never count him out.
