Lifting weights can eventually produce joint pain. The wear and tear of repping with heavy weights takes a toll, but two supplements taken together may help relieve some or all of the pain. Research has shown that combining glucosamine sulfate and fish oil appears to be more effective at reducing knee and hip pain from osteoarthritis than glucosamine alone. Scientists looked at the effects of taking 1,500 milligrams of glucosamine alone or with about 500 milligrams of fish oil. The combo worked significantly better.
