Hearty Laughter

Achieving better pumps.

Get lots of laughs to improve your heart health. A study out of the University of Texas at Austin found that subjects who watched a funny movie and laughed often dilated their blood vessels by one-fifth for up to 24 hours. When the same subjects watched a serious documentary, arteries constricted. That leads to high blood pressure. Interesting—especially if it means watching stand-up comedy before your workouts can give you better pumps.
