Frank Zane: The Workouts

Three-time Mr. Olympia Frank Zane has perhaps the most classic physique ever to have graced a posing dais—just the right amount of mass, perfect symmetry and proportion and an athletic aura. How did he achieve that degree of awe-inspiring development? Yes, genetics played a big role, but his workouts provided the stimulus to make it happen. That’s exactly what The Workouts covers.

What you get are basically 180 workouts that Zane did between the ages of 14 and 60, arranged in order of difficulty. Zane put them in that order so that you can follow them and progress—or just jump into the workouts for which you are conditioned. For example, if you’re advanced, you could try his Mr. Olympia prep workouts.

Zane was meticulous about logging workouts throughout his career, and you get everything from each training session, even the poundages he used. He also includes some of his poems, thoughts and drawings as sidebars. Oh, and let’s not forget all the classic, motivational photos, like the one on the cover. You’ll see pics throughout his career, even when he was just starting out.
