According to research out of the University of California, Berkeley, married couples that used we, us and our during a rift resolved the stress more quickly than those that used I more often.

In other words, focusing on the individual rather than the couple produced more negative emotions. During any type of spat think of you and your significant other as a team, not as individual adversaries.
