Dawn Fernandez Training at Gold’s Gym

I am a native of Colorado, but have lived in Phoenix, the Valley of the Sun, for over 20 years. My husband and I have three boys. Our family has always been active in sports and the gym. My coach is Damian Segovia at AZ Pro Physiques. My husband is my training partner.

When I turned thirty, my husband bought us a membership to a local gym. I had always watched what I ate and applied my rule of moderation, but I wanted to get fit and strong. My muscles responded well to the combination of weight training and cardio. Over the years I have learned that a good nutrition plan combined with a consistent workout plan yield a wealth of health benefits both physically and mentally. I’ve been working out and training for many years, but I’ve only been competing since the fall of 2009. I’ve met a lot of wonderful people in the bodybuilding sport and fitness industry. Everyone has been very helpful. With each competition I’ve learned something new about the sport or myself. It’s been a very interesting journey thus far and I am anxious to see what is next. It has been a challenge at times to juggle a full time career and a family and find time to train or compete, but my family has been very supportive. It’s been nice to find that balance in life and I’d like to help others find that balance too.
