Last Rocktober, in Las Vegas, Nevada, Adrian “Alpha” Larsen took the stage at BOADApparel.com’s Kings of the Bench VIII and added his name to the top of the record books. The previous record, held by the United States Marine Corps’ Michael Green, had stood for half a decade but Larsen successfully pushed his way to the top with a 535 pound press that had onlookers wide eyed and attempting to grasp the number they’d just witnessed a middleweight moving from the supine position.

Vegas Power Hour was in the building, broadcasting during Kings of the Bench VIII and so they scheduled an interview session with Adrian to talk about his training and dietary methods.
Hear Alpha Larsen talk about how he reduced his body weight from 275 pounds down to 220 pounds without losing any strength on the bench. Adrian also covers his training methods, his workout schedule and he hits on a few personal notes like some of his positive and negative experiences with certain show promoters and about how pathetic one of the sport’s most visited website forums has become.

As mentioned on the radio show listed above, Adrian is going to be running a charity benchpress competition in Portland, Oregon this March to raise money for a family with a little girl who is battling cancer.
“This beautiful little girl, Belle, was diagnosed with Leukemia. Her chemotherapy and hospital stay costs are taking a toll. What better way to help her and her family out than a little competition? We are putting on a Bench for Belle meet tentatively set for March 2, 2013. We are hoping to include a couple different categories for bench (max, reps, female, etc). Belle’s mom, Melissa Thompson Bradley, is a strongwoman herself and we all need to support our strength family during times of need.
