Greater Gulf States Pro—Tacy and Tammie Take the Titles

A couple of first-time winners hit the jackpot at the Greater Gulf States Pro in Shreveport, Louisiana, on June 26. Brittany Tacy in bikini and Tamee Marie in women’s physique are the specific champs in question. Tacy, who got her pro card at the USA last year, earned the complete respect of the judges with her fullest and most polished look ever. They gave her the nod over a lean-and-sassy Justine Munro and an equally ready-for-the-runway Stacy Alexander, who were tied before the tie-breaker votes were added back in. Justine ultimately got the number-two spot.

This was a tough lineup, no mistake, and 11 women who hit the stage came ready to rumble, with Dayna Maleton and Narmin Assria rounding out the top five, in order, and Jennifer Chapman, who was second in her last two shows, looking fine and having to settle for sixth.

Olympia-invite points note: Despite that placing, Chapman is still leading in point count in the Olympia Qualification Series for bikini, with 13. In fact, she has more points than any athlete in any of the Olympia sports.

In the women’s physique battle veteran fitness athlete and suit maker Tamee Marie brought her tall, symmetrical body to the new sport and took to it right off. This was a strong lineup too, with Karin Kimura, who was won the Governor’s cup in Sacramento, California, in March, getting the runner-up spot, and Jennifer Robinson taking third.

As you can see from the accompanying photo, the judges have once again tipped the scales toward a balanced, not overly muscular look—with good lines, of course. That goes for Kimura and Robinson as well.
