You know apples have a lot of fiber and nutrients. They also can improve digestion. Researchers reported that when rats ate diets high in apple pectin, there was an increase in friendly intestinal bacteria and better digestion. According to the scientists, “[Apples] help produce short-chain fatty acids that provide ideal pH conditions for ensuring a beneficial balance of microorganisms.”
