Readers Weigh In On Jeremy Buendia, Jon “Jujimufu” Call and Anton Antipov

Big Guy, Can Move

Jon “Jujimufu” Call isn’t the only big guy who can really move. I guess it’s kind of rare, but it’s not unheard of for big muscular guys to be able to do flips and cartwheels. I’m 225 pounds, and I’ve been able to do a standing backflip since the seventh grade. Just because you have muscle doesn’t mean you are one of these guys who can barely climb a flight of stairs.

Physique Or Bodybuilder?

When I see Jeremy Buendia in the pages of Iron Man, I can’t believe he is not a bodybuilder. He is way too muscular for Men’s Physique. I thought Physique was supposed to be attainable. Jeremy looks like he should be onstage with Phil Heath!

—Ian S, via e-mail

Editor’s Note: Good thing you are not an IFBB judge, Ian. Phil Heath hits the stage at about 245 pounds, while Jeremy—who was about the smallest Men’s Physique competitor at the 2015 Mr. Olympia—walks onstage at around 172 pounds. Jeremy just presents bigger than he is because of his spectacular proportions, which is the very magic of building muscle that we are all chasing.

Light At The End Of The Tunnel

I have been in prison for the past two years, and I am down to one year. When I was sentenced I became really depressed and had a lot of pain built up inside for letting my family down, and most of all not being able to be there for my kids. After a year of sitting around and feeling sorry for myself, I realized I needed to let it all go and move forward. I started working out again, and over the past year I have lost 35 pounds and I’m in the best shape I have been in over 15 years (I’m 36)!

I have been taking a personal trainer course, and next month I will be a certified personal trainer. Your articles have really touched my heart and have motivated me to keep working hard and see that there really are people out there that really care about other people’s health. It’s rare to see another person care about people who suffer from mental illness as much as you do. That’s awesome! I hope to do the same someday, so when I read your articles it really moved me.

I have made amends with everyone I harmed due to my mental illness, and today there really is a light at the end of the tunnel.

Editor’s Note: Congratulations, Merico. Keep up the good work.

Broad Shoulders

Nice shoulder workout in your last issue. I really liked the tri-set finisher. I have started adding that to my shoulder workouts, and I love it. It doesn’t trash my shoulders, but it gives me  a crazy pump. Anton Antipov (my favorite Men’s Physique competitor) looked great, too.
